Jeanne Balibar is an actress, singer and director with a highly distinctive voice. She has worked with many French and international filmmakers and won a César for Best Actress in 2018 for Barbara by Mathieu Amalric. She will be coming to the Festival to present a number of screenings from her uninhibited and audacious career.

Nicolas Philibert is a precious filmmaker, and for over thirty years has been working on the relationships human beings have with their fellow human beings. After an initial foray into filmmaking co-directing, with Gérard Mordillat, La Voix de son maître (His Master’s Voice) (1978), based on a series of interviews with the new leaders of major French companies, he decided to go it alone and explore subjects he felt more empathy with.

Finnish filmmaker Juho Kuosmanen made a name for himself at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival with his second feature, Compartment No. 6, which won him the Grand Jury Prize, and is a familiar face to Premiers Plans Festival regulars... A focus on one of the promising European filmmakers of his generation.

100 years after the birth of Federico Fellini, a look back at eight films from the Italian maestro, each one of which, in their own way, reflects the evolution of an oeuvre with narratives that are as decadent as they are joyous and whose trajectory gradually moves away from neorealism towards the acceptance of the dream and the imaginary as tangible components of our reality.

On the occasion of the 20^th anniversary of the Ateliers d'Angers, the Premiers Plans Festival will be presenting a selection of films developed during the workshops. These films represent the very best in young European cinema and the Festival is proud to have contributed to the visibility of a new generation of filmmakers, at a time when their status is being confirmed at major international festivals and in cinemas.

For authors, animation is a way of recreating life and asking questions, each in their own way, about the relationship between man and nature. A retrospective featuring three programmes of short films, five feature-length films and a masterclass by Xavier Kawa-Topor.
